Pakistan’s Army Chief Reviews Combat Readiness During Visits to Gujranwala, Sialkot Garrisons

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, on Friday inspected operational preparedness at the Gujranwala and Sialkot garrisons, reaffirming the military’s focus on combat readiness, technological adaptability and countering evolving security threats.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of Pakistan, paid visits to the Gujranwala and Sialkot garrisons on Friday, where he reviewed the operational preparedness of frontline formations and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening combat effectiveness.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief was briefed on the formations’ current state of readiness as well as key measures being implemented to enhance training standards and battlefield performance. During the visit, he observed a field training exercise and inspected an advanced simulator-based training facility, highlighting the army’s emphasis on modern and realistic training environments.

Field Marshal Munir praised the formations for maintaining high professional standards and a robust state of operational readiness, noting their preparedness to respond to emerging security challenges. Emphasising the changing nature of warfare, he stressed that modern conflicts demand agility, precision, enhanced situational awareness and rapid decision-making, underlining the importance of continuous technological adaptation within the armed forces.

During interactions with officers and soldiers, the army chief commended their high morale and unwavering commitment to national security. He reiterated the central role of rigorous, mission-oriented training, reaffirming that the Pakistan Army remains fully focused on addressing both internal security challenges and external threats.

Field Marshal Munir also underlined the military’s resolve to counter hostile hybrid campaigns, extremist ideologies and divisive elements seeking to undermine national stability, stating that such threats would be met with determination and unity.

Upon his arrival in Gujranwala, the army chief was received by the Corps Commander Gujranwala, ISPR said.
